Hinnarik amma Nakuusa!

Hinnarik came to visit us in Qaanaaq.

Hinnarik talked to the pupils about Nakuusa

- working towards improving children's lives in Greenland.

Afterwards, we went outside to take a photo.

The teachers stood behind the cameras!

It was exciting to have Hinnarik come to our school.

Indsamling til Afrika

Akisooq og eleverne har arbejdet hårdt ved at indsamle dåsering til Afrika.

Disse ring vil blive lavede om til legetøj.

Vi har ingen sodavandsflaske i Qaanaaq, men vi har mange dåse!

De var en del matematik involveret. Her skal Zella finde ud af hvor mange vi har.

Simigaq sjrive om projektet.

Og så bliver det hele pakkede til Afrika.

Stop! Police!

Gustav came to visit us in Akulliit. He told us all about Police work in Greenland.

We talked about what was right and what was wrong.

And then we tried out handcuffs and other Police equipment.

Gustav showed us his can of Pepperspray.

And his pistol!

We couldn't get enough of the handcuffs! They were fun.

Vi havde besøg af Ole og Natuk fra tandklinikken. De har arbejdede i løbet af året for at forberede vores tænder!

Der blev uddelede præmier til klassen med de bedste tænder. 5. klasse vandt!

6th & 7th Grade Boat Racing

After a short break we are back with more pictures and stories from Akulliit!

After the 5th grade had so much fun with racing sailing boats in natural science, it was time for the 6th and 7th graders to try it out.

We built the "lake" with bits of wood and a bin bag. We used string and nails to hold it all together.

The wind for our sailing boats came from the balloons.

And ourselves!

The races were exciting - we will post video soon!

 

But we took too many photos - no one wants to be seen blowing up a balloon!

Takuuk 1. majip!

Akulliit Illugiaq 2012 - Day Three(ish)

We are still building our illugiaq.

Tupaarnaq cuts out a large square of snow.

Vittus and Kaaleeraq shape the building blocks.

The square Tupaarnaq cut needed four students to carry it.

Miilaaraq finds a smaller block.

Vittus and Kaaleeraq need to work together.

Sometimes the blocks of snow fall to pieces.

But we can use nearly everything we cut out of the snow.

The walls are getting higher and higher.

Pipaluk looks a little scary with the saw.

More blocks are cut out of the ground.

Kaaleeraq and Mario take a quick break for the camera.

Frederikke shapes the walls ready for another block of snow.

Pipaluk brings just the right piece.

Vittus finds a piece that just fits in the hand!

We need to cut a door soon.

But we are still not finished!
